Eventually, Gehrig Normand was going to turn the corner in his recruitment, but when that would happen was the unknown. After a strong GASO First Look Event, playing at the NY2LA over the open period, and Who Wants the Smoke, Gehrig has seen his stock rise.
Normand already holds a hand full of offers and looks for more to be added soon.

Normand says Colorado State, Kansas State, Missouri, New Mexico, Oral Roberts, Rice, Rio Grande Valley, Tulsa, Tennessee, Wyoming, and Xavier have offered.

Monday was a big day for Normand as his phone rang off the hook with at least eight colleges making contact with him.

“I heard from Texas, TCU, SMU, Colorado, Tennessee, Creighton, Utah, and Wake Forest,” said Normand.
“Right now the college coaches like that I am versatile. They think I can play multiple positions.”

Normand continues.

“[The Coaches] love the way I can shoot from deep but also score at all three levels, and that I’m a good teammate.”

Normand is an athletic-skilled guard who is highly versatile. The 6-foot-5 Normand says that he is working on his overall game, but especially on keeping his defenders off balance.

“I’ve been shooting at a super high percentage so I’m trying to work on getting defenders on their heels by attacking the rim more so i can pull up and hit jumpers.”

FOCUSING ON UPCOMING UNOFFICIAL VISITS

Normand says he wants to learn more about college life and “what it will be like when I’m there. Also, learn more of the player development part of it

SMU – – “They super good people. I’ve talked to most of their staff and it has been cool getting to know each and every one of them.”

“One thing that sticks out about SMU is [Coach Rob Lanier] cares about his players. As a new coach, he has guys staying with him and not entering the transfer portal. So it’s impressive to see many of his guys stay at the school.”

Texas – – “Man, Coach [Chris] Beard is a good dude. I love that guy! Mom, Dad, and I are pumped to go to Austin. We haven’t been to Austin in a minute so it’s good to go back.

“My conversation with Coach Beard was really cool for me because the last couple of years I’ve been watching all of his teams.”

***Editor’s Note: Normand has taken unofficial to Colorado, Colorado State, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and Oral Roberts

CURRENT RANKING

Normand sits at the No.20 spot in the current 2023 GASO Rankings. The next rankings are posting May 20. Normand will find himself in the top 10 when the next GASO Rankings post.

“I don’t pay much attention to rankings or anything like that,” said Normand. “I pay attention to what really is important and that’s the games I’m playing this spring and summer and the coaches that are in my phone. I’m just keeping my head down and grinding and not really paying attention to much of the noise.”

🗣 COACHES STATEMENTS…

Kid is a coach’s dream. When the ball is in his hands, I trust that it will end up where it needs to be. He has worked and earned every opportunity he is getting, and remained humble through it all. We are proud that he represents Birdville Basketball.” – Birdville Head Coach, Anthony Holman

Gehrig’s playmaking off the dribble has rapidly improved. His ability to get to his spots or make the right reads out of actions has been remarkable this spring. He has just as much upside as anybody in the class of 2023.” – 3d Empire Academy Program Director, Shawn Ward
